Meet the Artist

MEET THE ARTIST...

Tracey L. Harris grew up along the riverside of Port Tobacco in Southern Maryland. Surrounded by nature, she was inspired by the rivers, the swamps, and the life that teemed through them. Her artistic talent was recognized at an early age and cultivated throughout her school years. She spent her teenage summers studying art at Goucher College through competitive programs for gifted Maryland artists. After graduating from McDonough High School in Pomfret, Maryland, she traveled to the west coast to study at the Art Institute of Southern California in Laguna Beach. Her paintings and drawings have been exhibited and awarded in shows on the local, regional, and national level.

Tracey and her husband, Irving Harris, also operate a professional photography studio in Charles County, Maryland. Many of the photo studio's clients become subjects of Tracey's traditional portrait paintings. Her skill as a portrait painter has aided the photography studio when clients need complicated photo retouching and restoration.

Tracey is a member of the Portrait Society of America, Cecelia Beaux Foundation, National Association of PhotoShop Professionals, and Professional Photographers of America. Locally, she is an active member of the Charles County Arts Alliance, Mattawoman Creek Art Center, and the Charles County Chamber of Commerce.

She and her family live on a tranquil, historic farm in Ironsides, Maryland. Tracey is still surrounded by nature and continues to gather inspiration from the wild places of Southern Maryland.

PORTRAITS & NATURE SCENES...

Commissioned Portraits are available in oils, pastel, graphite, or charcoal & white. The level of detail required determines prices. (Background, scale, full length vs. head & shoulders, etc.) Contact the studio for a no cost consultation and discuss your ideas with the Artist.

When you've reached an agreement on portrait style, setting, medium, size and price, your commission will be scheduled. A retainer of one third of your contracted price is due at the time of scheduling. A time frame estimate and payment schedule will be agreed upon at that time.

Non-portrait painting commissions are similar in procedure. Contact the studio with your idea and a custom artwork can be created. Many of Tracey's river-inspired paintings are available as Limited Edition Giclee` Prints. Each is hand-signed and numbered by the artist. Visit the ArtStore for information or contact the studio.

Special Unveiling Celebrations can be scheduled after the painting or drawing is complete. These receptions are the perfect way to present your new artwork to your family, friends, and business associates.

MURALS & ACCENTS...

Transform your plain walls into a beautiful work of art that will grab attention.

Each project begins with a free consultation and site visit.* The artist will gather information about the project and work with you to transform your ideas onto paper.

After your consultation, you'll be contacted with a price range and estimated time frame for your project. To proceed, a retainer is required and project idea sketches and samples will be created.** Tracey uses computer art to "map out" your project, and will often provide several options.

To schedule your mural, a deposit of one third of the final price quote is required upon approval of the idea sample and price. Payment of the second third is due on the first day of work on location. Final payment is due on the last day of painting.
